Since 1996, Arbor Day Foundation members have been actively engaged in the Hybrid Hazelnut Project. Thanks to your hard work and research, the Arbor Day Foundation is taking steps that will advance the Hazelnut Research Project. The Arbor Day Foundation is forming a cooperative research Consortium to continue the enhancement and advancement of the hazelnut industry. Participation in the Consortium means the Arbor Day Foundation needs your help now more than ever. The next few years are critical years of research and will greatly accelerate the development of hazelnuts.
As Arbor Day members know, there are many reasons to be excited about the potential of hazelnuts. The we are committed to the development of hazelnuts because of the enormous potential showcased in our past and current research. Hybrid hazelnuts hold the potential of creating healthy and profitable crop, while dramatically reducing greenhouse gases, nitrogen pollution, and the use of fossil fuels.
To weigh in on these matters and share lessons learned from growing hybrid hazelnuts in your backyard, we welcome contributions about best cultural practices, cracking & hulling techniques, wildlife stories, color photos and favorite hazelnut recipes. |
